Prevention is the Key!
Over 50,000 children are victims of child abuse and neglectin Florida each year. More than 5 children die every day as a result of child abuse.Premature infants are 3 times more likely to be abused than full term babies. [Children's Healing Institute]
All children deserve a safe, loving home, to be happy and healthy
--to thrive, not just survive.
The safety, health and well-being of children and families can easily be compromised when internal and external resources are limited or there is a sudden change in family dynamic or circumstances. Countless families in our community are faced with the challenges of inadequate medical care or assistance, limited education, under-developed coping skills, financial hardship, poor health, lack of social support, insufficient knowledge, or change in family structure. Families need support during difficult times to help reduce the risk for abuse.
